Ep. 91: Why Did Marvel Cancel Most of its Comics in 2023?
Over the course of this year, all but 3 of Marvel’s ongoing comics were rebooted. In this episode, we’ll look at the new premises and summarize some of what was wrapped up. Black Panther must defend the city of Birnin T’chaka. Hulk leaves Hulk Planet and comes back to Earth to fight The Mother of Horrors. The Avengers must tangle with Kang and the Ashen Combine. Scarlet Witch has the Darkhold and a new store. The new Punisher is named Joe Garrison. The Guardians of the Galaxy deal with Grootfall. Captain America conquers the Outer Circle. Venom and Doctor Doom are time traveling together. Thor becomes even more immortal. And Jonothan Hickman redefines (or at least starts to) the entire Marvel cosmology in G.O.D.S.
Ep. 88: Why Did The Punisher Join the Hand?
Jason Aaron has completely changed the story of Frank Castle, aka The Punisher. Now, he’s the leader of the ninja death cult called The Hand. By adding some back story and bringing his dead wife back from the dead, Jason Aaron has elevated The Punisher’s story to a Shakespearean level. We’ll discuss the entire 12 issue arc, explain how Frank came to this point, and what it means to be the Fist of the Beast. We’ll also discuss some of The Punisher’s greatest hits, including “Welcome Back Frank” and the time he teamed up with a cosmic powered Spider-Man to prevent the American government from switching their currency to the cocaine standard.
Episode 65: Can We Do A ‘2022 in Review’ Episode? (We Can!)
Watch Zach’s mind break as we discuss not-even-close-to-actually every issue of Marvel comics from 2022. What are Spider-Man, Daredevil, Punisher, Thor, Mister Sinister, Mystique, and Destiny up to these days? If you’ve ever had that very specific thought, then this episode is for you. The fist of the Hand meets the hand of the Fist. Somebody is playing with time and murder. Mystique has a hidden identity! I know, I’m as surprised as you are!
Episode 56: What Are Some Marvel Video Games? (The Good, the Bad and the Strike Force)
Taking a bit of a diversion from our usual chatter about comic book weirdness, this week the Doombots are talking about video game weirdness. Searnold loves X-Men on Genesis (until that one part), Zach get really mad about someone being “the world’s most famous murderer,” and they both bond over their recovery from a ravaging Marvel’s Strike Force addiction.
Episode 40: Can We Rank All Marvel Studios Movies and TV Shows?
So, there was this recent ranking of ALL 44 movies and TV shows made by Marvel Studios, and this week The Doombots are weighing in on the entire MCU.
