Final Fantasy 7 is on pretty much every list of top video games of all time. As the first JRPG on the Playstation, it had a huge role in popularizing that entire genre. It’s a classic that stands the test of time. It’s had sequels, and prequels, and remakes and rebirths. But does its story hold up to the type of scrutiny that we’re known for? Can someone who’s never played a videogame before understand it? Do any of the characters make sense? Does the world? Why are they called weapons if they don’t look like axes?
