And that meant explaining the Grey Goblin, which meant going back to his origins in J.M. Straczynski’s run on Amazing Spider-Man circa 2001-2007. And how can we talk about JMS’s run without talking about “Brand New Day”, the story where Peter Parker and Mary Jane make a deal with Mephisto to erase their marriage.
