Ep. 148: How Did Doctor Doom Unite The World Under His Control? (And Why Did The Fantastic Four Ruin It?)

On this week’s episode of The Doombots Marvel Podcast, we’re taking a look at writer Ryan North’s fantastic “One World Under Doom” arc, and how Doctor Doom used magic, science, political science, a T-rex, propaganda, and genuine altruism to unite the Earth in peace and happiness (under his rule, of course).

Ep. 147: Who Are Marvel’s Weirdest Heroes from the 1940’s? (And what are they up to these days?)

Speaking about the Whizzer in episode 145 reminded Zach and Searnold that there are plenty of other weird characters from Marvel’s version of the 1940’s that need discussing. In this episode, we’ll focus on 12 of them, specifically THE twelve. Is the Phantom Reporter a reporter who reports on ghosts, or a ghost who is a reporter? Does Claire Voyant need a different name besides Black Widow? Would humans be perfect if we didn’t have genitals? All this and more in today’s episode of the Doombots Marvel Podcast!

Ep. 146: Is the Wonder Man Show any Good? (And why does he keep dying in the comics?)

Zach and Searnold watched the first two episodes of Marvel’s new Wonder Man show and will give you their (mostly) spoiler-free review. They also talk about Wonder Man’s greatest hits in the comics, which (mostly) consists of him dying and coming back to life. They’ll discuss his failed acting career and the Crazy 8’s, the insane supporting cast from his 1990’s solo series. There’s also some discussion of Devil-Slayer, but neither Zach nor Searnold really understood what’s going on with that guy.

Ep. 145: Did the Whizzer Get His Super Speed From Mongoose Blood?

The Whizzer is a Marvel speedster from the 1940’s. And his origin is one of the craziest stories ever told in any medium. In this episode, the Doombots do a panel-by-panel analysis of the Whizzer’s origin as originally published in U.S.A. Comics #1. They’ll discuss all the retcons that have come since, and wonder why everyone doesn’t just inject themselves with mongoose blood. All this, plus Disney’s Gargoyles are now 616 canon? Don’t miss what is sure to be your new favorite episode of the Doombots Marvel Podcast!

Ep. 144: Can We Kick Off 2026 With a 4th Round of Our Annual Trivia Challenge? (We Can!)

It’s that time of the year again (by which we mean the very, very beginning of it), when Searnold and Zach get super competitive and start asking the big questions in a trivia showdown for the ages.

Ep. 142: Can Searnold Survive The Marvel Comics Trivia Gauntlet?

This week’s Doombots Marvel Podcast is a little different. Unbeknownst to Searnold, he’s about to face THE GAUNTLET! A grueling five rounds of Marvel Comics trivia, with seven questions per round! Find out if Searnold can beat The Gauntlet!

Ep. 141: What Is The Best ‘Bob’s Burgers’ Thanksgiving Episode?

In celebration of Thanksgiving, we’re looking at every single Thanksgiving themed episode of Bob’s Burgers, and then definitively and objectively rank them based on a totally not subjective metric to figure out which is 100% and inarguably the best of the best!

Ep. 140: Why Was Dracula On The Moon, And How Did The Punisher Become A Frankenstein Monster?

We’re keeping the fun Halloween vibes going this week with two more creepy, horror-themed Marvel stories. From Dracula shooting vampires out of cannons on the moon to Frank Castle being reanimated to fight on behalf of monsters.

Ep. 139: What Is The Best Marvel Halloween Story?

The Doombots aren’t ready for Halloween to be over yet, so we’re going to discuss some spooky horror Marvel Halloween stories. We begin with that time Captain America was a werewolf. How did this happen? Why did this happen? Was the story actually good? Who is Zachary Moonhunter? Is a wolverine a wolf? Is Wolverine a wolf? Does being hypnotized make you legally not liable for crimes? What is the sentencing process like for turning someone into a werewolf? There are so many questions that need answering!
